Zimmerman Scientific Co., Ltd.was founded by Mr. Y. T. Sheng in 1961. Before 1961, he had ever been the teacher of the Department of Chemistry of National Taiwan University and Kaohsiung Medical College. In 1960s, Taiwan's development of science and technology was in an initial stage, and the communications were also not well-established. Mr. Sheng discerned that industrial and technological development would be the main factor to upgrade Taiwan economic environment and sustain its vitality, so he started the business of scientific analytical equipments and measuring instruments.

At the beginning, with his professional knowledge of scientific background, he started the business of supplying laboratory instruments, chemicals, analytical and physical experiment apparatus, industrial quality control equipment and R&D instrumentation to universities, research institutes and government based industries.

After we passed the first decade of Zimmerman, in 1970s, Taiwan's economy and industry started to fly. For catering to the market requirement, Zimmerman increased kinds of products and set up "Industrial Instruments Division" supplying industrial measuring instruments, automatic sequence control system for fields of petro-chemical, chemical engineering, textile, dyeing, cement, steel foundry, water treatment and environmental protection, etc. In the meantime, "Kaohsiung Branch Office" was found in the south of Taiwan. There are two divisions, "Scientific Instruments Division" and "Industrial Instruments Division," to serve our customers.

In 1980s, following our government policy for the academic research, upgrade of manufacturing technique and develop high -tech products, we were aggressive to enter the area of high-tech industry. With the encouragement and assistance of our business partners, we successfully created new business of thin film process equipment; sputtering system; evaporation vacuum coating system with e-gun source; ion-beam source and diamond turning machine for precision optical component field. In the middle of 1980, we also opened other products line for automobile testing system for passenger car and motor-cycle engine performance and chassis simulation with exhaust emission analysis and FFT torsion vibration test system for prevision machinery.

In material science and chemical analysis field, we had very strong base of X-Ray spectrometer, spectroscopy, gas / liquid chromatograph, computerized color formulation system.

In 1990 we established Hsin-Chu Office where is near the Science Based Industry Park that main business including Service Center and Electronic Business Department. We added new lines of deposition system (CVD) and etching system. High vacuum equipment (dry pump) and exhaust gas management system for semiconductor, LCD, CRT industries and reading/writing measuring system and mechanical characteristic testing system for memory disc and laser disc.

In 1998, we invited a consultant company to train all Zimmerman staffs for two years. Zimmerman Intranet has operated since September 1999. Zimmerman homepage was appeared on World Wide Web in January 2000.

Glancing in retrospect over the past 40 years, Mr. & Mrs. Sheng's capital was NT$50,000 when Zimmermann was established. Up to now, through the efforts of all Zimmerman staffs, our company capital has increased to NT$50,000,000. Afterward, we will devote ourselves to the development of Zimmermann and share the remarkable achievement with our all customers. Let's anticipate a bright prosperous future for Zimmerman together!
